Taming Travel Tension 101

For experienced and inexperienced travelers planning family trips.

Creating a memorable trip for the whole family for all the right reasons

The idea hits you – Let’s take a family trip one that requires our passports and flying over an ocean. We could spend a little more time, try some new food, get a broader world view!

Yes, that is what we are going to do.

Then you tell your family. They join you in the excitement. Everyone is buzzing with ideas, suggestions, wish lists and locations. The conversation quickly shifts from excitement to frustration as everyone in the family has different ideas of the “ideal” vacation.

The Travel Tension Monster has just joined the conversation, with its own set of questions:

  • Where should we go?
  • What should we do?
  • How much will it cost?
  • Will it be safe?
  • How do we get there?
  • What do we pack?
  • Where do we stay?

The Travel Tension Monster has quickly extinguished all the excitement as fear sets in with all that goes along with planning a trip that meets the entire family’s expectations so everyone can relax and enjoy the adventure.

The Monster is not done yet, he is already packing his bags to go along with you. He will be asking more questions and sabotaging your vacation in ways disguised as quarrels, disruptions, and personality conflicts.

Tension is his name and he likes to inflict it whenever he gets the chance. When he is given control, he hijacks the vacation leaving frustration and irritation in his wake.

He doesn’t rest from his assumed responsibilities until he gets the family back home (he many times stays much longer). Upon returning home, he is quick to remind everyone of how far behind they are now that they “took the time to play.” He wants to get everyone back into their old routines as quickly as possible forgetting anything they learned or experienced on the trip.

What would it be like to not have to take along the extra passenger on your next family vacation?  To leave the kind of Travel Tension at home that spoils things. Your trip will have stress; there are ways to plan ahead to manage it when it happens.

It is possible and a very realistic goal.  How you say?

There are proven techniques and strategies that will help tame the travel tension from the first moment of planning all the way through to coming home.

Without a doubt, there is a lot to do when planning and taking a family trip.  It can feel overwhelming making sure everyone is having fun, the location is safe, the budget isn’t blown and the list goes on.

Taming Travel Tension 101 helps you put tension in his box, so you (and the rest of the family) can enjoy the whole experience.  Learning alongside other families who are also planning family trips, you will glean incredible tips, tricks and techniques that you can apply to your planning process not just for your next trip but for all of your trips.

It is like when you are first learning to cook, you get a few skills in place and all of sudden the kitchen doesn’t look like a scary place because you know wonderful things can be created.  Same with family travel, learn a few key skills and you will be free of the Travel Tension Monster as you shift from creating adventures.

It is possible to plan, travel and return without provoking undo stress and tension on the family, especially the member of the family who is the chief organizer of the trip.

Planning travel doesn’t need to be that hard.  It doesn’t need to evoke fear and frustration for the organizer. It can be fun and a time of exploration and curiosity.

Yes, this sounds like a great course! Put me on the list to be notified when it goes live.
